Coach Costa
Coach Mike Costa has over 25 years in the Sports Industry. Focused on hockey, and soccer development of Youth players. Coach Costa has had many hats as founder of Flames Hockey School in Toronto to coaching multiple A to AA level teams. He also coached both High School Hockey and Soccer teams. Mike is a certified coach with current Respect in Sports for Leader and Vulnerable Police Check. He also holds a level 4 officiating certification, which provided him the experiencing of refereeing AAA and Junior levels in the GTHL and Tournaments such as St. Mike's Showcase Tournament. He has continued to train with some of the best NHL referees such as Ron MacLean, Stephen Walkom, Tim Peel, Don Koharski, Ron Finn and Tim Nowak.
Coach Costa was a part of Centre Ice Training Academy (recently closed) and Shield Athletics On-Ice Instructing Team. As owner of PTD - Progressive Target Development, Coach Costa runs his own clinics, private and team training while being part of B.L.O.H.M.A. (Burlington Bulldogs ) Development Team and On-Ice Instructor at Wave Sports in Burlington.
When he's not on the ice (which is rare), Coach Costa is still "gliding" in arenas assessing players and game scouting for development. He also mentors youth members in our community while giving them an opportunity to volunteer and collaborate on the ice.
